Better Mental Health is operated by Aporia Media. At Better Mental Health and Aporia Medi, we value your trust more than your data. This policy explains how we handle your information with transparency and respect.

1. Our Strict “No-Sharing” Promise

The most important thing you need to know is this: We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties. Period. We aren’t in the business of trading your information for profit. Your personal details stay strictly with us.

2. What We Collect (And Why)

We only collect “Personal Information” (such as your name, email, or phone number) when you knowingly and voluntarily provide it—for example, to submit content or answer an inquiry. We use this data only for the purpose for which it was submitted.

3. Ownership of Submissions

When you submit content, feedback, or suggestions to our site, that information becomes the property of Aporia Media. For submissions, this applies only when you agree to the submission being published on our site. We do not publish your content without your opportunity for review and explicit agreement. With your agreement to publish, that content then becomes the property of Aporia Media. We do this to ensure we can share your content on the website, in printed form, or advertising and promotion  material without legal complications. This ownership is always subject to your rights under the Australian Privacy Act 1988.

4. Retracting Agreement

We understand that situations change and you may no longer want your submission to be publicly available. In this case, please contact us and we will remove the content from our website and take reasonable effort to remove it from other sources (such as social media platforms). We cannot remove content that has been shared by third parties, and you should contact that platform to have your content removed. While we are unable to retract material that was published in a hardcopy medium, we will endeavour to remove it from reprints or future printed materials.

4. Cookies & Website Tech

We use “cookies” (small files on your browser) to help our site run smoothly and understand how visitors use it. You can reject cookies using the cookie confirmation options when visiting the site or disable cookies in your browser settings at any time. Please be aware that if you disable essential cookies some site features may not function as expected.

5. Security & Overseas Data

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your data from unauthorised access. We do not store or disclose any personal information to anyone. We comply with Australian regulations for the protection of personal data.

6. External Links

Our site may link to other websites. We aren’t responsible for their privacy practices, so please check their policies before sharing your information with them.

7. Your Rights & Complaints

Your data belongs to you. You have the right to:
Access or Correct: Contact us to see or update the info we hold.
Make a Complaint: If you feel we’ve mishandled your data, please email us at admin@bmhmag.com. We will respond within 30 days. If you aren’t satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
